PURPOSE: A method of making a taffy product by preparing fermented rice punch(sikhye) by using a Maackia amurensis extract and then heating with chestnut powder and mugwort powder is provided. The product is effective for inhibition or treatment of appetite loss, nausea, emesis, singultus, heartburn, stomachache, diarrhea, gastrointestinal hemorrhage or the like. CONSTITUTION: Maackia amurensis Rupr. et Maxim is cut into a predetermined size, extracted with 18L of water and then boiled with 4kg of rice. The hard-boiled rice is mixed with 4 to 6L of malt water and then fermented at 60deg.C for 3 to 5hr, followed by filtering to give fermented rice punch. The fermented rich punch is heated with chestnut extract at 100deg.C for 25 to 35min and boiled down for 3 to 5min to give taffy. During the manufacture of the taffy, 400 to 600g of raw chestnut powder and 500 to 700g of mugwort powder are added.
