PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) with a minimized cell gap variation and a method for manufacturing the LCD are provided to prevent defects from being generated in the LCD. CONSTITUTION: The first substrate(120) on which switching elements are formed is prepared. The second substrate(140) including a plurality of pixel regions on which RGB color filter patterns(144a,144b,144c) having different thicknesses are formed is prepared. Column spacers(153a,153b,153c) are formed between the first and second substrates. The first pressure is applied to the first and second substrates to press the column spacer corresponding to the first color filter pattern having the largest thickness. The second pressure is applied to the first and second substrates to press the column spacer corresponding to the second color filter pattern having a middle thickness. The third pressure is applied to the first and second substrates to press the column spacer corresponding to the third color filter pattern having the smallest thickness.
