<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent biting of foreign matter passing through an opening area of a window hole, without impairing usability. <P>SOLUTION: A slide door device is equipped with a slide door 10 with the window hole 14, which is slidably arranged in a vehicle body 1, and window glass 20 for opening/closing the window hole 14 of the slide door 10. The slide door device is also equipped with a foreign-matter detecting means 60 for detecting whether or not the foreign matter is present in the opening area of the window hole 14, and a slide regulating means 70 for regulating the slide of the slide door 10 in a door opening direction with respect to the vehicle body 1 when the slide door 10 is operated before fully opened.
