PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scroll fluid machine in which a whirling scroll can easily work without being affected by influence owing to a waviness at a mating side end plate for the considerable period, even when a little waviness and tilting at a fixed end plate or a whirling end plate, or a dislocation occurs in the axial direction. SOLUTION: A sliding material 17 whose height is determined so as to contact the mating side end plate is provided at an outward proper position in the radial direction of the overlapped part of a whirling lap 5b and a fixed lap 3b at the whirling end plate 5a or the fixed end plate 4a, when the wearing of a chip seal S exceeds a given limitation without contacting when the chip seal S installed at an end surface at the mating side does not wear out.
