PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heighten the emission luminance of light by improving efficiency in using the light and to improve the visibility of a pointer by suppressing luminance unevenness in the longitudinal direction and acquiring a uniform luminance distribution. SOLUTION: In a pointer 1 for an instrument of this invention, sawtooth-shaped fine recession and protrusion prisms 3h are formed on a reflecting surface 3c for reflecting and deflecting incident light. Flat parts 3j are provided between the sawtooth-shaped fine recession and protrusion prisms 3h. By increasing outer prism angles larger than inner prism angles, the incident light is repeatedly reflected, refracted, and made to propagate between the reflecting surface 3c and emission surface 3d of a pointer body 3.
