PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain such a film and a laminate therefrom under a milder condition than ever as containing no chlorine in the structure and as having the excellent oxygen-gas barrier property under a high humidity. SOLUTION: The coating (C) for use in the formation of a gas barrier layer contains (A) sugars, (B) an olefin-maleic acid copolymer, and (D) a metal compound of two or more valency.
