PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dispersion agent capable of producing light calcium carbonate slurry excellent in initial fluidity of the slurry and fluidity stability, even in a high concentration of light calcium carbonate. SOLUTION: This dispersion agent for light calcium carbonate is composed of a (co)polymer X containing a monocarboxylic acid (salt) A containing a vinyl group as an essential constitution unit. (1) Weight average molecular weight Mw of X is 4,000-40,000. (2) A ratio of Mw to a number average molecular weight Mn of X (Mw/Mn) is 1.2-2.0. (3) X comprises a (co)polymer X1 with a molecular weight≥1,000 and <4,000, a (co)polymer X2 with a molecular weight≥4,000 and <40,0000, and a (co)polymer X3 with a molecular weight≥40,000 and <200,0000.
