PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter element outstandingly prolonging a clogging time and capable of efficiently capturing solid particles having various particle diameters in every particle diameter. SOLUTION: In the cylindrical filter element 1, a liquid to be treated in which the solid particles mixedly exist is permeated from the outside 2 the filter toward a central hole 4 at the inside 3. The cylindrical body is constituted by a plurality of layers of the first to fifth layers a-e by a filter material having from rough filtration accuracy to fine filtration accuracy from the outside 2 toward the inside 3.
