摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an RF coil for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) excellent in openability by using a saddle coil for optimizing current distributions of elements and expanding a magnetic field uniform region. SOLUTION: The RF coil 10 for the MRI is a saddle coil configuration wherein the elements comprise main paths 11a and 11b parallel to each other and connecting paths connecting the main paths. The connecting paths comprise equally-spaced connecting paths 13a, 13a', 13b and 13b' along which opposed elements extend parallel to each other and unequally-spaced connecting paths for respectively connecting ends of the main paths to the equally-spaced connecting paths. It is constructed such that the interval between the equally-spaced connecting paths becomes narrower than the length of each main path. The MRI apparatus comprises base yokes 22a and 22b provided with vertically opposed magnets 28a and 28b and two columnar yokes 23a and 23b of a magnet assembly 20 for supporting the base yokes at their peripheral edges.
