PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorant which has excellent deodorizing effects against various malodorous substances, can keep effective deodorizing effects over a long period, and is cheap and has high safety, and is easily handled, and a method for manufacturing it. SOLUTION: The deodorant is manufactured by adding an acid solution comprising at least one element of iron and titanium as a neutralizer to an alkaline slurry of a bauxite dissolved residue discharged from an alumina manufacturing process by a Bayer's process to coat it with a metal hydroxide and/or a metal oxide.
