The bending method has the velocity of an impact tool (1), displaced relative to a carrier (3) for a workpiece (4) via a drive device (2), controlled during the impact movement in dependence on the position of the workpiece and in dependence on a defined impact velocity, with measurement of the initial position (H0a,H0b,H0c) and/or the rebound position of the impact tool. An independent claim for a workpiece bending device is also included.
