<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device capable of simultaneously projecting a plurality of colored light having sufficient intensity by efficiently utilizing light from a light source. <P>SOLUTION: The light source device is provided with a light source part 2, a light guide rod 5 and a color wheel 6 in which dichroic filters of a plurality of colors are formed on the entire periphery of a rotary board so that these dichroic filters are formed with corresponding width in the width of an area on which outgoing light from the light guide rod 5 is made incident. A polarization conversion element 9 for converting outgoing light from the light source part 2 into straight polarized light having the same polarization surface and making the converted light incident on the light guide rod 5 is arranged between the light source part 2 and the light guide rod 5, a polarized beam splitter 11 for transmitting the straight polarized light transmitted through the polarization conversion element 9 and reflecting straight polarized light orthogonal to the transmitted straight polarized light is arranged on the incident end of the light guide rod 5 and aλ/4 phase difference plate 12 is arranged on the outgoing end of the light guide rod 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
