SOLUTION: The air conditioning system for vehicles comprises an evaporator 6 for evaporating a liquid refrigerant for cooling air-conditioned air blown into a compartment; a variable capacity compressor 1 for compressing a refrigerant evaporated by an evaporator driven by a power source 3 for driving vehicles and controlling the amount of discharge refrigerant by an electric signal from the outside; a blowoff air temperature sensor 8 for detecting the blowoff air temperature of the evaporator; and a control means 7 for calculating a target blow-off air temperature Tint' of the evaporator, based on a set temperature, and controlling the amount of discharge refrigerant in the variable capacity compressor, based on the detection value of the blowoff air temperature sensor. The control means controls the variable capacity compressor 1 at a target blow-off air temperature that is higher than the target blow-off air temperature Tint' by a specific temperature when fuel efficiency drops when the variable capacity compressor 1 is controlled at the target blowoff air temperature Tint'.
