<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that usual collective mixing of carbon fibers, a filler and a binder in the first stage results in a low density of a molding material and brings about a hindrance in subsequent press molding and, when the mixing time is prolonged so as to remove the hindrance, the flexural strength of a C/C composite lowers. <P>SOLUTION: STO1 (loosening process): Loosening is performed by putting the carbon fibers alone in a mixer or by putting it therein with a proper quantity of water added thereto. STO2 (mixing process): A graphite powder as the filler and a phenolic resin as the binder are added to the loosened carbon fibers and mixed therewith sufficiently by the mixer. By these processes, the molding material can be obtained. By executing the loosening process and the principal mixing process in this sequence, the density of the molding material can be increased and also the flexural strength of the C/C composite can be enhanced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
