<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent structure body for optics which can be easily and quickly manufactured, in which a fine periodic structure of a submicron order can be easily realized, the direction, the width or the pitch of the fine periodic structure can be arbitrarily controlled, and a three-dimensional periodic structure can be obtained, and to provide a method of manufacturing the structure body, and an optical element. <P>SOLUTION: A pulse laser beam 2 having a linear polarization is made incident so that the focal point is located inside a glass region and a periodic structure region is formed at the focal point, where regions having a high refractive index and regions having a low refractive index are repeatedly generated with a pitch of 1μm or smaller. A face connecting the regions having the high refractive index or the regions having the low refractive index is formed in parallel with the direction of a polarized magnetic field of the pulse laser beam 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
