PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compound having an excellent controlling effect on harmful arthropods. SOLUTION: The pyrimidine compound expressed by formula (1) [wherein, R<SP>1</SP>is a 3-7C alkynyl which may be substituted with a halogen atom; R<SP>2</SP>is H or a 1-4C alkyl; R<SP>3</SP>is H, fluorine atom, chlorine atom, bromine atom or a 1-4C alkyl; R<SP>4</SP>is a 3-8C cycloalkyl, a 3-8C cycloalkenyl or a 7-11C bicycloalkyl, provided that the 3-8C cycloalkyl, 3-8C cycloalkenyl and 7-11C bicycloalkyl may be substituted with a group selected from the group consisting of fluorine atom, chlorine atom and bromine atom; and A is a single bond or a 1-3C alkan diyl group] has the excellent controlling effect on the harmful arthropods.
