PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering control unit for a vehicle which easily performs a track adjustment steering for the vehicle, while reducing an irregular feeling in steering operation against a driver. SOLUTION: This steering-by-wire type steering control device for a vehicle comprises a gear ratio setting unit 10a for setting a gear ratioΔθ/Δδthat is a ratio between a variation of a steering angleθof the steering wheel 1 and a variation of a steering angleδof each of the steering wheels 5, 5, and a steering angle controller 10 for driving a steering actuator 8 in the way that there is provided a target steering angleδ* calculated on the basis of at least set gear ratioΔθ/Δδand a steering angleθ. The gear ratio setting unit 10a is defined as means for setting a gear ratio characteristic B where the gear ratioΔθ/Δδbecomes low while holding a zone in which the gear ratioΔθ/Δδbecomes constant as an absolute value of the steering angleθis increased.
