PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide silica-coated polymer particles having excellent light scattering and reflecting properties. SOLUTION: The silica-coated polymer particles are each composed of a polymer particle derived from a polymerizable vinylic monomer and a silica film with which the polymer particle is partially covered in such a manner that a ratio of a surface area outward exposed is in a range of 0.1 to 1, wherein the silica film is formed out of a condensate of a polyalkoxysiloxane oligomer.
