PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device of removable specifications capable of protecting an internal drive unit from shocks at the time of removal from an appliance main body, binding and driving the driving unit while it is mounted on the appliance main body, and increasing operation accuracy during recording/reproducing on a hard disk. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk device 1 is provided with a drive unit 10 incorporating a hard disk and a magnetic head device, and a binding member 23. While the magnetic disk device 1 is separated from an appliance main body, the binding member 23 is moved to a releasing position, and the drive unit 10 is released from the binding to be elastically supported. When the magnetic disk device 1 is mounted on the appliance main body, the binding member 23 is moved to a binding position by a first engaging means 31d, and the drive unit 10 is bound in the magnetic disk device 1.
