PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photodetector module that can optically connect an optical fiber for optical transmission and a photodetector with low loss and satisfy a high reflection attenuation quantity characteristic. SOLUTION: Provided is a connection insertion part 6 where an optical connector 11 provided on a projection end side of the optical fiber 10 for optical transmission as a single-mode optical fiber is inserted and fitted. In a housing 5, the photodetector 4 and a ferrule 3 are arranged opposite each other at an interval along an optical axis and an optical fiber 2 for connection which optically connects the optical fiber 10 for optical transmission inserted into the connector insertion part 6 and the photodetector 4 is inserted and fixed in the ferrule 3. An optical fiber 2 for connection is formed of a multi-mode optical fiber whose incidence end 8 is spherically formed and the incidence end 8 is connected in physical contact with a spherically formed projection end 19 of the optical fiber 10 for optical transmission. The core diameter of the optical fiber 2 for connection is larger than the core diameter (9μm) of the single-mode optical fiber, or 15 to 45μm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
