PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To vary magnification with extremely less off-centering while coping with the wide magnification variable range, then, to improve the workability in microscopic observation, and also, to attain the cost reduction and the miniaturization, as for a microscope and a zoom objective lens. SOLUTION: As for the microscope 1, the microscope 1 is provided with the zoom objective lens 2 equipped with a 1st lens group 3 as a fixed group, and a 2nd lens group 5 as a zoom group, and a half mirror 4a is arranged between the 1st lens group 3 and the 2nd lens group 5 so as to divide an optical path into a main optical path advancing to the 2nd lens group 5 and a sub optical path. A fixed magnification lens 11 is arranged on the sub optical path, and a half mirror 12 and a movable mirror 14 are moved backward and forward in the optical paths, then, the switching between the main optical path and the sub optical path is performed so as to vary the magnification.
