PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining abnormal factors for appropriately coping with occurrence of abnormality of sluggish rotation at a time of start of a diesel engine. SOLUTION: A determination steps (step 203, 203) are provided to determine whether a factor of abnormality of sluggish rotation is deterioration of combustion or inappropriate combustion period when abnormality of sluggish rotation occurs (step 201, 202) at the time of start of the diesel engine.
