PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a metal product having superior corrosion resistance, superior abrasion resistance and further non-magnetic properties, by reinforcing the surface layer of an austenitic metal without precipitating a chromium compound, and forming a DLC coating on the surface. SOLUTION: The metal product having superior corrosion resistance, superior abrasion resistance, and further non-magnetic properties is obtained by heating and holding the austenitic metal in a fluoric gas atmosphere to fluorinate it, simultaneously with and/or after the fluorination, carburizing the austenitic metal to form a carburized layer on the surface layer of the austenitic metal, and further forming a diamond like carbon film on the surface of the austenitic metal.
