PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a root cutting tool for lawn, having a simple structure and easily insertable into the ground to enable sure root-cutting work, sufficient hole opening work and efficient curing of the lawn. SOLUTION: A nearly cylindrical root-cutting part 2 and a foot pressing part 3 are formed at the tip end of a frame 5 opposite to a handle 5a, and a nearly rod-shaped soil-dropping part 4 is placed in the root cutting part 2 in a manner enabling forward and backward motion. When the root-cutting part 2 is inserted into the ground by pressing the handle 5a with a hand or applying the body weight on the foot pressing part 3 with a foot, the nearly cylindrical root-cutting part 2 moves in the ground while taking the soil of the forward direction into the cylindrical part to enable the insertion of the root-cutting part 2 into the ground against a small resistance for the outer diameter of the cylinder. The root is cut with the tip end of the root-cutting part 2 having a proper thickness acting as an edge to compatibilize the opening of a large hole in the ground and the sure root-cutting work. The curing of the lawn is surely performed, the work is smoothly carried out and the work efficiency is remarkably improved by the use of the root cutting tool. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
