METHOD OF DETECTING HISTAMINE-PRODUCING BACTERIUM AND PRIMER FOR USE IN THE METHOD

A method of detecting a histamine-producing bacterium; a method of identifying the bacterial strain thereof; and a primer for use therein. In particular, PCR of a test sample is carried out with the use of a primer containing base sequences of SEQ ID NO. 1 and 2, and thus obtained PCR products are electrophoresed to thereby detect a histamine-producing bacterium. The strain of detected histamine-producing bacterium is identified by SSCP analysis. As a result, the histamine-producing bacterium can be detected accurately and easily by the detection method, and identification of a causative bacterium is facilitated by the identification method, thereby enabling speedy clarification of pollution source.
