PURPOSE: A device for grinding a knife is provided to prevent the damage of the knife and lengthen the lift span of the knife by capable of grinding edges of the knife periodically while a trimming machine is in operation. CONSTITUTION: A device for grinding a knife is composed of a driving unit, and a grinding unit for grinding side edges of a lower knife(12). The driving unit includes driving cylinders(31) installed upward at a base member(30), a lifting member(32) installed horizontally at the end of a piston rod installed in the driving cylinder and moving up and down toward the lower knife, a movable member(34), a feed screw(35) installed longitudinally at the lifting member and engaged with a female screw hole formed at the movable member, and a driving motor(36) installed at one side of the lifting member and connected to the feed screw. The movable member is penetrated by a guide bar installed longitudinally at the lifting member, and moves along the lifting member longitudinally. The grinding unit includes an operating motor installed vertically at the inside of the movable member, and a grinding stone(51) installed at a rotary shaft of the operating motor and contacting with the side edges of the lower knife. |
