<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability of an actuator by reducing the displacement resistance of a slider that is generated when the slider is displaced in the axial direction, and to improve the maintenance performance of the actuator. <P>SOLUTION: Open slits 62a, 62b are formed between a top cover 60 and side covers 58a, 58b in the actuator 10, magnetic substances 66a, 66b are arranged at faces that oppose fixing blocks 24a, 24b of walls formed at ends of the slits 62a, 62b, and a magnetic fluid 68 having viscosity and surface tension or the like is held between the magnetic substances 66a, 66b.
