摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly accurate and high-speed focusing device without being equiped with a specific range finding device. SOLUTION: A subject image to be formed on an imaging device 11 is moved in an optical axis direction and focused by a focusing lens 10. A contrast signal of the subject image is outputted from an image processing circuit 13 on the basis of an output from the imaging device 11. The position of a focusing optical system is controlled so as to be moved in the optical axis direction by a motor 22 in accordance with the output of the image processing circuit 13. An optical element 33 can be inserted/ejected into/from the optical path of the focusing lens 10 and a focusing position focused by the focusing lens 10 is shifted in the optical axis direction. A CPU 15 performs final focusing control by retreating the optical element 33 from the optical path or inserting the optical element 33 into the optical path after driving the motor 22.
