PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone which allows a monitor screen to be easily seen with its body put to the ear and enables this easy to be handled at a low cost with a compact volume. SOLUTION: The telephone comprises a supporting means 10 on the backside 2b of the telephone body 2 one end of which is turnably pivoted to the body 2 and the other end of which is free so as to be shed in or drawn out of the body 2, and a monitor 30 mounted to the free end of the supporting means 10 so as to locate at a position to view the monitor when the supporting means 10 is drawn out and the body 2 is put to the ear. The supporting means 10 has two link members 11, 12. One end of the link member 11 is turnably supported by a pivot 21 on the backside 2b of the body 2, and the other end is connected to one end of the link member 12 by a pivot 22.
