PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a nanocarbon to be easily dispersed in a resin and to impart conductivity to the resin even with a small amount of the nanocarbon. SOLUTION: The carbon material has the nanocarbon attached to the surface of a carbon fiber. The method for producing the carbon material comprises applying a voltage between a torch electrode 10 installed in an arc torch 1, and an electrode plate 2 facing thereto by an electric source 4 having a current value set to 5-20 A to generate arc 3, arranging the carbon fiber 20 on the surface of the electrode plate 2, relatively moving the electrode plate 2 in a state of carrying the carbon fiber 20 fixed thereto at 0.5-10 mm/s moving speed based on the torch electrode 10 while keeping the distance between the torch electrode 10 and the carbon fiber 20 so as to be 0.5-5 mm, and cutting the resultant carbon fiber.
