PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent dragging efficiently and to ensure initial response of a brake at the time of braking by utilizing a braking device, for a vehicle, provided with a liquid pressure source. SOLUTION: In this braking device for a vehicle, a brake fluid circulation passage provided with a liquid pressure source is interposed in a brake fluid supply passage from a master cylinder to a wheel cylinder. Means for detecting whether a brake pedal is operated, and means for detecting dragging of a brake pad are provided. Only when dragging was detected with the brake pedal being not operated, a supply valve provided in the brake fluid circulation passage is closed, and a return valve is opened. In this state, the liquid pressure source is driven for a given period of time to suck the brake fluid in the wheel cylinder to widen spacing between a brake pad and a disk rotor, whereby dragging is prevented properly and efficiently.
