The conveyor belt has a pneumatic ram device acting upon the belt band (2) as a means of drive. A clamping device which is movable by a cylinder (4) and clamps on the belt, forms the pneumatic ram device. The lower run of the belt band is clamped on a friction lining in a closed frame (3) by short stroke cylinders (5) or also membrane cylinders. The conveyor can be drawn or pushed over a defined path by action of the cylinders fitted on the clamping device.
