<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make narrower the gap between the nozzle plane of a liquid ejection head and an object being carried by a carrying means. <P>SOLUTION: An elevating/lowering means 156 lowers a carrying means 147 to a retreating position located lower than a carrying position and a cap opening/closing means 122 moves a head cap 49 to a position located higher than the nozzle plane 40 of a liquid ejection head 2 thus avoiding interference between the carrying means 147 and the head cap 49 being opened/closed by the cap opening/closing means 122. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
