PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive open type storage battery capable of correctly detecting and adjusting the solution level of an electrolytic solution. SOLUTION: In this open type storage battery, a slit 6 is formed at a predetermined position viewable from a solution injection port 8 of side walls 3 of a cross-sectionally V-shaped support 5 disposed above an electrode plate group 2 and comprising the side walls 3 and a bottom plate 4, and the upper end of the slit 6 is positioned at the highest regulated solution level.
