PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-based coating composition forming a coated film having excellent low-temperature processing and water resistances and high hardness, and to provide a coated metal prepared by coating a metal with the water-based coating material composition, heating and curing the composition. SOLUTION: The water-based coating material composition is obtained by using a high-Tg acrylic copolymer (a) having a specific structure and a low-Tg acrylic copolymer (b) having a specified structure in combination as acrylic copolymers and compounding a benzoguanamine resin (c) having a specific structure, a phosphoric acid-modified epoxy resin (d) and an amine-modified epoxy resin (e) therewith.
