PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of inexpensively and easily manufacturing a crank shaft of the desired shape. SOLUTION: This is the method of manufacturing the crank shaft 26 comprising a connecting part 34 provided with a hole 38 to which a rotating shaft 24 is fitted and connected, and a key groove part 42, and a crank part 36 integrated with the connecting part 34 and having a crank pin 44. A hollow shaft-shaped connecting part material 134 used as the connecting part 34 and a round bar-shaped crank part material 136 used as the crank part 36 are prepared, the hole 38 and the key groove part 42 are formed on a part 46 at one end side of the connecting part material 134, an enlarged part 48 having an inner diameter larger than an inner diameter of the hole 38 is formed at the other end side, an end face 50 of the other end side of the connecting part material 134 and one end face of the crank part material 136 are butted and friction welded, and the outer shape is machined to form a crank pin 44 and the like after the friction welding.
