PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for an ink-jet printer which can obtain an appropriate printing result by easily and appropriately driving controlling an inkjet head without the need of always detecting an acceleration change involved in the movement of a carriage, and to provide an ink-jet printer. SOLUTION: In the control method for the ink-jet printer, printing is carried out to a printing object by loading the inkjet head on the carriage, and discharge driving while moving the inkjet head via the carriage in a main scanning direction to the printing object. The inkjet head is discharge driven on the basis of a control table which sets a driving energy amount for discharge driving the inkjet head correspondingly to a movement position at every moment of the inkjet head.
