PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stock vice, having compactness not to change in total length in the working condition of the stock vice, and elastically and firmly holding a work. SOLUTION: A base 3 where a fixed holding body 2 is mounted is provided with a movable holding body 5 to freely move forward and backward to the fixed holding body 3. A rotary driving device 6 extended in the longitudinal direction of the base is stored in a storing recessed part 7 provided in the base 3, the upper end of which is opened. The end part of a driving shaft 12 constituting the rotary driving device 6 can be rotated in the normal direction and in reverse direction by a handle 18. The movable holding body 5 is moved forward to the fixed holding body 2 by normal rotation of the driving shaft 12, thereby holding the work between the movable holding body 5 and the fixed holding body 2. The work can be elastically and firmly held by the operation of a hydraulic assistor built in the rotary driving device 6, and the work can be very stably held against the vibration in machining the work.
