METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CUTTING GLASS SHEETS TO GIVE CUT SECTION PERPENDICULAR TO SURFACE OF SUBSTRATE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD OF PDP

PURPOSE: A method for cutting a glass sheet is provided to allow a glass sheet or PDP substrate to have a cut section perpendicular to the surface of the substrate or to have a cut line in the form of a straight line. CONSTITUTION: The method for cutting a glass sheet(3) comprises the steps of: (i) forming a linear groove(5) along a predetermined cutting line defined on the glass sheet; and (ii) applying local pressure to the end of the groove. The step for applying local pressure is performed by forming cracks along the groove. In a variant, the method comprises a step for disposing an elastic sheet for dispersing pressure at the end of the groove and disposing a pressure absorber(23,25) on the back surface of the glass sheet facing to the end the predetermined cutting line, instead of step (ii).
