PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a database management system and a database management method capable of improving a recordable disc capacity by deleting an unnecessary DB to improve the using efficiency of the system. SOLUTION: This database management system for managing a plurality of databases based on the using states of the databases comprises a management means for managing using state information showing the using state of information stored in the databases; a determination means for determining whether or not a continuation examination request is reported to the manager of the databases based on the using state information managed by the management means; and a report means for reporting an examination request to the manager of the databases based on the determination result by the determination means.
