PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact locking means for locking a steering column after tilt adjustment around a steering column. SOLUTION: A locking case 8 is capped over a protrusion of a tilt axis 7 outside of a side wall 21 of a tilt bracket so that to make one end of the locking case 8 abut on the side wall 21. A lock axis 9 is supported into a supporting groove 81 arranged at the other end face of the locking case 8, and a locking cam 90 integrally molded half way of the lock axis 9 is positioned into a cam hole 72 placed onto the tilt axis 7. When the locking axis 9 is rotated around with the locking cam 90 in abutting on an end face of the cam hole 72, the locking cam 90 acts upon the tilt axis 7 and the locking case 8 and the locking case 8 is pressed onto the side wall 21 through the tilt axis 7 so that the locking axis 9 is constructed to lock tilt angle by tightening a column bracket inside of the side wall 21.
