PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device which enables high quality printing while assuring productivity. SOLUTION: The printing device has a structure that a paper sheet is pressed against the transfer roller 100 by a star wheel 70. As a result, paper can be transported stably regardless of changes influencing static attraction conditions, such as types of the paper sheet, changes in electric characteristics of the paper sheet due to ink stuck, and changes in environmental temperature and humidity. While, in the opposing direction to a recording head 44, a maintenance device 81 which catches ink droplets is arranged. Therefore, the ink droplets firing capability of the recording head 44 can be initialized by firing ink droplets toward the maintenance device 81 before reaching the page top of the following paper sheet after the paper sheet passes, even during continuous transfer (printing) of two or more paper sheets by the transfer roller 100.
