PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an overshoot of plunger lift while preventing an increase in the rotation torque of a cam associated with an increase in the inertial mass of a movable member for reciprocating the plunger of a high pressure pump. SOLUTION: The high pressure pump (10) has a pump part (11) provided with a pressurizing chamber (90) having a volumetric capacity increased/decreased corresponding to the reciprocating amount of the plunger (12), a movable member (20) pressurizing the plunger (12) in the direction that decreases the capacity of the chamber (90) in synchronization with the rotational movement of a cam (30), a regulating member (41) regulating the movable range of the movable member (20) in moving while pressurizing the plunger (12) in the capacity decreasing direction, and an energizing means (18) energizing the plunger (12) in the direction that increases the capacity of the chamber (90).
