<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an adsorbing agent enabling a long onstream time in a given column size, and having high selectivity to fluorocarbon impurities except CF<SB>4</SB>product. <P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to an improvement in a process for removing C<SB>2</SB>F<SB>6</SB>as an impurity from a CF<SB>4</SB>containing gas, preferably CF<SB>4</SB>produced by the reaction of F<SB>2</SB>with carbon. The improvement in the process comprises the steps: contacting the CF<SB>4</SB>containing gas with an activated carbon having a CCl<SB>4</SB>activity of 43-55, in an adsorption bed to effect adsorption of the C<SB>2</SB>F<SB>6</SB>impurity; and, recovering purified CF<SB>4</SB>product in the effluent from the adsorbent bed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
