PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve visibility of an organic electroluminescent element under strong external light. SOLUTION: In this organic electroluminescent element, the diffuse reflectivity of the entire element is reduced by disposing an antireflection film formed with an island-like absorber film or an absorber dispersion film and a conductive transparent body film on a luminescent layer-side interface of a metal back electrode to reduce regular reflection of a metal film, whereby contrast improvement under strong external light is realized.
