PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and its composition which are excellent in color tone, hydrolysis resistance, thermal stability, transparency, and moldability, have reduced foreign matters, and can be suitably used for a film, a monofilament, a fiber, an electric or electronic part, a car component, or the like. SOLUTION: The PBT and its composition contain titanium in a titanium atom content of 33 ppm or below. In a preferable embodiment the PBT and its composition have a cooling crystallization temperature of 170 to 190°C, a terminal vinyl group concentration of 0.1 to 10μeq/g, a solution haze of 10% or less, an elevation in a terminal carboxyl group concentration of 0.1 to 30μeq/g when subjected to heat treatment under a given condition, and a 5-μm-or-more foreign matter content of 50/10g polymer or less.
