PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic composition which imparts good cosmetic characteristics, especially a high easiness in unravelling tangled hair, softness, and pleasant external appearance, to the hair and which maintains and/or continuously fixes the shape of hair style. SOLUTION: The hair styling composition contains at least one polymer (A) and at least one polymer (B) in a cosmetically acceptable medium. The polymer (A) has such characteristics that, when its mixture with ethanol or water is dried at room temperature and a relative humidity of 50% to obtain a film with the following mechanical profiles is formed: (i) the elongation at break (ε<SB>b</SB>) is 300% or higher; (ii) the recovery (R<SB>300</SB>) for 300 sec is 45% or higher; and (iii) when the recovery for 300 sec is 45-60%, the elongation is lower than 1,300%.
