PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 3-chlorostyrene oxide, by which the 3-chlorostyrene oxide can efficiently be produced in an industrial scale. SOLUTION: This method for producing the 3-chlorostyrene oxide is characterized by reacting 3-chlorobenzaldehyde with a sulfonium salt or sulfoxonium salt represented by formula (I) [R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>may be identical or different from each other and is each a 1 to 20C alkyl or phenyl which may be substituted; X is a halogen atom or monomethyl sulfate group; (n) is an integer of 0 or 1] in the presence of a base.
