PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressing iron capable of efficiently transmitting the heat generated in a heating wire to a base, keeping the temperature of the base at a prescribed temperature by sufficiently following the operation of a thermostat to detect the temperature of the base and control power supply to the heating wire, and enhancing the crease stretching effect on a fabric. SOLUTION: The pressing iron comprises a heater part consisting of insulating side panels disposed on both sides to hold a heater winding part with the heating wire wound around an insulating core panel in-between, the base on which the heater part is mounted, and the thermostat for detecting the temperature of the base and controlling the power supply to the heating wire. Since the thickness of one insulating side panel on the base side is thinner than that of the other insulating side panel of the insulating side panels on both sides holding the heater winding part in-between, the drop of the temperature of the base can be prevented, and the finish of crease stretching of the fabric can be improved.
