PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize a curling and distortion of a formed article in a method wherein a three-dimensional article is formed by a selective laser sintering.
SOLUTION: A first powder top layer is dispensed on a target zone. The temperature of the first powder top layer is adjusted to a predetermined value. The powder in the location selected by the first powder top layer is fused, by orienting an energy beam in the target zone, to form a first united layer. A second powder top layer is dispensed on fused and non-fused powders at the first powder top layer; and a second united layer, which is combined with the first united layer, is formed similarly. Additional layers, each of which is combined with its adjacent layer, are formed by repeating the above process so that the three-dimensional article is formed. Various powder temperatures on the present top layer are imaged using a machine vision fitment, and they are regulated by regulating radiation heat output from a segmented radiation heater above the target zone in the temperature adjustment step.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
